Since joining Long &
Williamson in January, 1991, John has litigated a
broad range of multiparty complex cases including the
Jack-In-The-Box E. Coli lawsuit, environmental
insurance disputes; construction defect claims
developing a specialty in multi-party concrete
sulfate attack claims; labor law matters and
business litigation disputes. Additionally, he
has taken on the California Coastal Commission
representing over 80 clients with contract and
permit disputes.
He has
successfully prosecuted and defended over 200
construction defect lawsuits on behalf of nearly all
trades including developers, general contractors,
framers, roofers, sheet metal installers, concrete
trades, graders, flooring subcontractors, plumbers
and others. John has represented business owners of
commercial interests in construction defect disputes
against contractors and successfully garnered
settlements at early stages that minimize fees and
costs. He has also defended through trial and
arbitration subcontractors to defense verdicts where
it was necessary to fight against unwarranted
claims.
John has both the
appellate and trial experience with trials in the
fields of product liability, personal injury and
real estate matters. Through hard work at
preparation and common sense communication, he has
successfully arbitrated close to a hundred cases.
Communication skills are not reserved exclusively
for judges and juries. John keeps clients informed,
incorporates client-carrier input and provides
feedback for joint decision-making throughout a
file's existence.
